I’m a senior majoring in Animal Science and Ag Journalism. I’m from Fond du Lac and hope to get a job as an editor when I graduate, maybe as a copy editor. I hope to learn how to make a decent website from this class.
Hometown: New Berlin, WI (riiiight outside of Milwaukee)
Major: Life Sciences Communication, business concentration
Year in school: 4th year senior
I’m most excited to dive into XHTML and CSS with this course. I have no real programming experience, and I’d like this course to springboard me into web work and supplement the STT Core Web course I am taking this semester. I’m also hoping to apply universal design techniques I’ve gained thus far to web design.
Hello, my name is Allen Langford, I am a senior from Detroit, MI. My major is Ag Journalism w/ Business. I am very interested in becoming more technology sound. I feel this course will allow me to have an understanding of how to accommodate the company I work for by introducing new ideas. Unfortunately I do not have any software design experience. I plan to work in a field of financing or marketing. Whoever offers me a job.

Hello Everyone. My name is Paul Humphrey. I am a junior here at UW-Madison double majoring in Animal Sciences and Life Science Communications. I hale from the booming town of Ixonia, WI. From taking this course, I hope to to be able to create a website for my families farm and my business.
I am familiar with Facebook and have minimal experience with Photoshop and Dreamweaver software.
Hello everyone- I’m Noel Benedetti. I just moved to this winter tundra from Florida. I grew up there and did my undergrad at the University of Florida (Go Gators) in Biochemistry. I’m in my first year of grad school in the LSC department and lovin it. Although I’m very interested in theory of communications, particularly related to sciences, my applied technical skills are a bit lacking. I believe I am, as they say, technologically deficient. So, I’m taking this class to strengthen that department. I have no experience with design based software (I had friends make my myspace and facebook pages. I once attempted to help my friend update his page and we threw in the towel after 2 unsuccessful hours. I think that gives you an idea…)
My name is Stephanie Barch and I am a senior majoring in Family & Consumer Journalism, although I often feel like an adopted LSC major since my department no longer exists! I am from Sussex, WI. After this course, I hope to have a working knowledge of basic web communication and design. I hope to work in marketing, event management or advertising after graduating in May. I have experience using Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, PageMaker, and a little experience in using Illustrator.
Hometown: Osceola, WI
Majors: Animal Science and LSC
Year: 4th Yr. Senior
Design Experience: InDesign, some Photoshop and Illustrator
My hope is to gain more knowledge about web design and apply new skills to my future.
As far as my future is concerned, I don’t have any real solid lead in particular.
Hi all -
I’m Danielle. A senior undergraduate in LSC, I hail from the tiny village of Shullsburg, WI in the southwest corner of the state.
This semester, I’m launching a new radio show on 91.7 FM WSUM Student Radio (Wednesday at 11am - listen at http://www.wsum.org).
Beyond shameless self-promoting, I’m super-psyched about this course. The more I browse through communications careers, the more I realize the importance of being web-savvy. I’ve taken LSC 530, so I’ve got a handle on the Adobe Suite, and have mastered ms paint, oh yes.
Careers? What an awful question. I’m graduating in May, so if you have any suggestions or opportunities for me, I’d be eternally grateful.
Alright, let’s tackle this photo business.
…is this cheating? Don’t mind the quality.
Hello! I’m Nicole Schmidt, a senior majoring in Life Sciences Communication. My hometown is Gresham, WI, located 50 miles northwest of Green Bay with a grand ol’ population of 500.
I’m hoping this course will stretch my creativity so that I can take the design basics that we learn and apply them to the various future situations I expect to encounter.
Career aspirations - wouldn’t we all like to know…
Software programs: Quark, InDesign

My name is Michael Felling. I am from Hutchinson Mn which is about an hour west of the twin cities. I’m majoring in LSC Business and I’m a Senior. The main thing I would like to gain from this course is to become better at understanding and working with computers and the web. I know the basics, but I’m not the greatest at it, and I don’t have any experience with design software other that facebook. In the future, I would like to be working in business, hopefully something along the lines of marketing or public relations.
My name is Ali Schultz. I grew up on a dairy farm in Hammond, WI (close to St. Paul, MN).
My major is Life Sciences Communication and I am currently a senior graduating this May.
I would like to obtain a basic knowledge of web communications. I would like to be able to create a website from start to finish and be able to manage a personal or business website for the future.
Software programs: InDesign, Quark, Photoshop & Illustrator (minimal), Facebook
For the future I would like to apply the knowledge of my degree within agriculture and see that I am making a difference. I would ultimately like to work for smaller ag companies and help them with start-up marketing and communications.
Hi everyone! My name is Heather Bonzelet. I am from Kimberly, WI, a small town right outside of Appleton. I am a senior this year, majoring in LSC. This semester I hope to gain basic web skills, and learn how to design appealing webpages. When I complete the course I am hoping to obtain a job that involves webpage creation or maintenance. After college I would like to work in marketing or public relations.
I have experience working with basic design programs including Indesign and Illustrator.
Hi, My name is Tim Clark. I’m currently a Senior, majoring in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Journalism. I grew up on a large dairy farm in LeRoy, WI. In the past couple of years, we sold our dairy cows and started growing ‘feedlot’ beef.
I am taking this course to become more proficient in web communications. I would like to create a web site for our family farm so we can market our beef to direct consumers. My brother, who owns a booming engineering firm, has also requested that I analyze and develop his website, which has become a global marketing piece. He also has another project up his sleeve, but it is work in progress. This course will play a critical role in my position to help my family out.
I hope to become proficient in html, rss, and other generic web ’scripting’.
I have experience with Microsoft Word, Excell, Powerpoint and Auto CAD.
can I try again?

If not, well, I’m in the book.
Hi there, my name is Lilia. I am a graduate student in Life Sciences Communication. Before I moved to Madison, I lived in Carbondale, Illinois for 4 years (very southern Illinois, 40 minutes from Kentucky). I’m taking this course for some relief from theory and methods courses and to have a creative outlet. My career goals involve working/researching overseas and someday getting a PhD. I have limited experience with graphic design.
Five years have passed since I entered UW Madison as an Animal Science and Life Science Communications major. I’m hoping to finally graduate in May (Mr. Stanley, my future is in your hands). Taking this class was a hard decision, considering I knew that part of the challenge would be having to see Andy Peterson twice a week. Bummer. I am currently working in the field of agriculture marketing and have noticed how much better our promotional website projects could be if I knew more about how our graphic designers prepare these. I have very minimal experience in any design software, but am currently enrolled in LSC 530, where I’m hoping to learn more. I am looking towards a career in agriculture marketing. Check out Filamentmarketing.com.
Hi, I’m Emily a senior in Life Sciences Communication. I’m from New Glarus, WI. I plan on graduating in May and I would like to get a job at a marketing agency shortly thereafter. I’d like to gain some basic website knowledge from this course.
Hi. I’m Sarah Manski. I’m one of the LSC 100 TA’s. I hope to complete a Master’s Degree by May and then go on to a PhD in Life Sciences Communications. I plan on being a communications professor and start my own business someday. So, I look forward to learning how to design a website. I completed my undergraduate degree here at UW-Madison in 2002 and traveled around the country. I’ve worked as a radio, print and television journalist in Washington DC, New York City and San Francisco.

I am a junior from Hammond, Wisconsin majoring in Dairy Science and LSC. I have no clue what I want to do in life, but am hoping to gain experience in creating a website so I can make one for various organizations/businesses.
